About Real Day
The Real Estate industry is full of creative and driven professionals. If you bring these people together and give them a community project for one day, they can undoubtedly have a real impact.
Real Day is an annual industry-wide volunteer day for real estate professionals from around Denver and Boulder (from brokers to lenders to office admin!). Real Day 2020 will take place on January 28. Participants will volunteer at the following non-profit organizations:
- A Precious Child: A Precious Child provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential.
- Boulder Community FoodShare: As a Feeding America food bank, Community FoodShare serves those in need by efficiently providing food to program participants and partners while maintaining the highest standards of food safety
- Community Table Kitchen (Boulder Bridge House): Bridge House provides a range of programs and services to help adults experiencing homeless have access to the resources they need for a better future. One program includes Community Table Kitchen, which provides breakfast and dinner each day to those experiencing homelessness in Boulder. Last year, they served over 83,000 meals out of its Commercial Kitchen.
- HOPE: HOPE ensures a sense of dignity and support to the homeless community while offering programs and referrals that encourage movement toward self-sufficiency. HOPE is in need of a few volunteers on January 28 for a unique project called Hope in Time. *Read below for more information about this special project.
*Every year HOPE has taken part in a national survey on homelessness called Point In Time. It is a one day snapshot of the homeless population sponsored by HUD. In the past, we have focused on individuals staying at the shelter. This year, we are also looking to capture families living in non-traditional settings, such as cars, RVs and hotels. We will be promoting this throughout town to encourage people to take the survey.
The role will entail you and a partner sitting with a client and reading questions off of a pre-printed questionnaire. Your partner will record the answers while you continue with the survey. Partners can switch off roles or stick with the same role throughout their volunteer time. There will be short training sessions beforehand so everybody will feel comfortable with the process during the shift. Sign up on here our website to receive more info about this opportunity.
